About Rachel
Hi, I’m Rachel Harmon (she/her/hers), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Colorado since 2012. I hold an MSW from the University of Kansas and serve as an Affiliate Professor at MSU. My work focuses on trauma recovery, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges, with specialized training in EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing. I also integrate experiential approaches like art, mindfulness based stress reduction, music, play, and movement into therapy. I believe we all possess the innate ability to heal.
“Trauma is not only what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathic witness.” - Peter Levine
Whether working with adults, youth, or families, in person in Denver’s City Park West or virtually across Colorado, my goal is to be an empathetic, attuned, and compassionate witness. To be seen, heard and understood enlivens us as human beings, it even enlivens our physiology. My hope is to create a space for you to process, reflect, integrate and move through your goals in and outside of our time together.
Additional trainings that continue to inform my practice include: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, MBSR for teens, Parent Child Interactional Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, Advanced EMDR trainings with children, Advanced EMDR and Somatic Therapy training and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I am a Somatic Experience Practitioner in training at the Intermediate level.
