About Rachel
Hi, I’m Rachel Harmon (she/her/hers), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Colorado since 2012. I hold an MSW from the University of Kansas and serve as an Affiliate Professor at MSU. My work focuses on trauma recovery, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges, with specialized training in EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing.
Whether you're navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, or just feeling a bit off and can’t quite name why, or you want to figure out why you cried over a taco order gone wrong—you’re not alone. I believe that healing is something we’re all innately capable of, and that process can be strengthened through connection. Working through life’s complexities and difficult moments with someone else (that’s where I come in) can help the process feel a little less daunting and a little more accessible. And while the work can be deep and meaningful, I also believe there’s room for humor and levity along the way.
As Peter Levine wisely said, “Trauma is not only what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathic witness.” My goal is to be that witness—showing up without judgment and with a whole lot of curiosity, and compassion —minus the clipboard and the head nodding clichés. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you—you’re not broken. Therapy isn't about rescuing or saving you, that doesn't honor the inherent dignity and worth we all possess. It’s about creating a space where you feel seen, heard, — that enlivens us as humans and even enlivens our physiology. My hope is to support you in processing and moving through whatever you're carrying—at your pace, on your terms.
Additional trainings that continue to inform my practice include: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, MBSR for teens, Parent Child Interactional Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, Advanced EMDR trainings with children, Advanced EMDR and Somatic Therapy training and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I am a Somatic Experience Practitioner in training at the Intermediate level.
